Private Tours & Birding Lessons

Customized Private Tours

We offer customized private tours to suit your birding desires or travel plans, and we can design an itinerary based on your needs.  Private tours can accommodate groups ranging from one to 20 people, and can be as short as a single morning, or as long as a week or more.

Want to add the elusive Bicknell’s Thrush to your life list?  Or search for boreal birds such as Spruce Grouse, Black-backed Woodpecker, Bay-breasted Warbler, and Philadelphia Vireo?  Or view majestic Bald Eagles and Loons carrying young on their backs?  Or wishing to spend some time photographing some of New England’s spectacular birds?  Or perhaps you are planning a trip to Vermont, or New Hampshire’s White Mountains, or Maine’s coast, and want to see and identify the array of bird species there.

Tell us what birds you want to see, or where you want visit, and we will design a personalized tour just for you or your group.

Private tours can follow similar itineraries as our scheduled tours or can be entirely unique to suit your needs.  Personalized tours can be a great option whether you’re alone, with your family, or a group of friends.  Our custom tours are also perfect for clubs, schools, and other larger groups.  Private tours are led by top-notch bird guide Dr. David Hof, Ph.D.

Birding Lessons

Having trouble with those confusing fall warblers or with all those similar shorebirds?  Want to get better at identifying birds by their songs?  Or just thinking about getting into birdwatching, and want to learn the basics to get you started?

We offer birding lessons for both beginner birdwatchers, and for those more advanced looking to improve their skills.  Our beginner lessons focus to develop skills using binoculars, what to look for when identifying birds, how to tell apart similar species, and learning bird songs.  More advanced lessons focus on the finer details of identification by sight and sound, and can be focused toward specific challenging groups of birds. Birding lessons are also a great way to have fun and to see lots of amazing birds!

Our guide, Dr. David Hof, is an exceptional teacher, and has spent years teaching birding skills at many different levels.

Lessons are available for all ages, and can be arranged as private individual lessons, as well as for small groups, clubs, and schools.
